Wuyi Fluorite Specimen - Shilonggang (石龙岗) mining area, Shuxi Subdistrict (熟溪街道), Wuyi (武义县) Wuyi Fluorite Field, Jinhua (金华市), Zhejiang (浙江省), China (中国)
This specimen originates from the renowned Shilonggang mine in Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province, an area globally recognised as the "Fluorite Capital of China". Formed within a low-temperature hydrothermal vein system during the Yanshanian orogeny, this Fluorite (CaF2) crystallised from mineral-saturated fluids as they cooled within volcanic rock fractures. This specimen shows a more "architectural" crystalline structure with visible octahedral or cubic tendencies. The colour here is slightly more translucent, allowing light to pass through the edges of the crystals and reveal the internal cleavage planes. This transparency is a key selling point, as it demonstrates the purity of the hydrothermal fluids during formation.
Measuring as a classic hand specimen, it perfectly illustrates the result of millions of years of chemical precipitation. The clarity and depth of colour make it a superior example of the hydrothermal mineralisation that defines the Zhejiang province.
