Wuyi Fluorite Specimen - Shilonggang (石龙岗) mining area, Shuxi Subdistrict (熟溪街道), Wuyi (武义县) Wuyi Fluorite Field, Jinhua (金华市), Zhejiang (浙江省), China (中国)

This specimen originates from the renowned Shilonggang mine in Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province, an area globally recognised as the "Fluorite Capital of China". Formed within a low-temperature hydrothermal vein system during the Yanshanian orogeny, this Fluorite () crystallised from mineral-saturated fluids as they cooled within volcanic rock fractures. While many specimens from this region exhibit lighter lavender tones, this particular piece is distinguished by its intense royal purple saturation. This "inky" coloration is the result of a high density of colour centres within the crystal lattice, often triggered by natural radiation or trace impurities during the growth process.

The specimen features a brilliant vitreous lustre and a complex internal architecture of cleavage planes characteristic of the isometric crystal system. Its deep violet hues provide a dramatic visual contrast against the dark, massive matrix at the base, which serves as a rugged, natural pedestal for the more translucent crystals. Measuring as a classic hand specimen, it perfectly illustrates the result of millions of years of chemical precipitation. The clarity and depth of colour make it a superior example of the hydrothermal mineralisation that defines the Zhejiang province, offering a more saturated and moody aesthetic compared to lighter fluorite varieties.
